Start Here – The Photographer Blog

Do you ever wish you could take better pictures?

Well you’re in the right place.

The Photographer Blog is for anyone wanting to learn more about photography, but wants it to be easy to understand and to try out. Anyone can take a great picture regardless of the camera that they have.

The Photographer Blog's Mission
Is to help you to understand your camera, so you can go and take the pictures that you really want to take.

There’ll be no more feeling ‘I don’t know how to use my camera’ or ‘I wish I could take better photos’.

Because you’ll understand what to do to get the picture that you want.

Just like learning a musical instrument, photography takes practice. And just like learning and practicing your notes and scales will help you play an instrument better. So will practising with your camera help you to take better pictures.

You’ll get on a lot better if you learn what the buttons and setting are on your camera, and what happens when you change them.

‘It’s low light and it’s Christmas, how am I going to take a picture of the kids opening presents?’

‘I’m at a sporting event, how do I capture the action?’

‘There’s a beautiful landscape I want to capture, but which lens is best to use?’

Then when you ask yourself questions like these, you’ll know what it is that you have to do to answer them.

Who am I

My name is Mandy Jones, and I’ve taken pictures for as long as I can remember. Also I live in England, in the UK.

My Grandad gave me my first camera. It was Mandy Jones the photographer bloghis old Kodak film camera, the one with the cube flash that you attached on the top. It was very basic, with pretty much nothing else but a shutter button. But I loved it and this all started from there…

As time went on and I’d had a few more cameras, I started to get frustrated. Some of my pictures weren’t turning out how I wanted them to. And I didn’t know why?

I also wanted to try out some of the cool techniques I saw other people using on the internet, but I didn’t know how.

That’s when I really started learning about photography. And how to be able to take the pictures that I wanted to take.

And now I want to help you to do the same.
