So I was thinking about seasons the other day, and I’d have to say that Spring is my favourite season.
The sun is getting a little warmer after winter, and colour is appearing everywhere with flowers and tree blossom. It’s just nice to go for a walk and not have a coat on.
The only thing I don’t like about it is that it seems to come and go so quickly!
Especially if you want to capture some of the lovely colours in the flowers and blossom that is around, then you have to be quick about it…
It was a lovely day and I was taking the dog for his usual walk, and surprisingly for that time of the morning I had the presense of mind to at least have my phone on me (the best camera is the one you have with you!). The day I remember my camera is the day it rains!
Anyway, I loved the light and the colours of the flowers so I pulled my phone out and took a couple of shots. It’s very different shooting with a mobile phone than a DSLR because you don’t have anywhere near the same control over the camera and it’s settings, so it takes different techniques to get the best out of the phone. Composition becomes really important instead, getting in close and filling the frame sets the flowers off really well for instance. Also a lovely spring breeze can cause havoc as I have no control over shutter speed on my phone, so I had to wait for a gap and be fast. Sometimes it worked better than others…. I may have to look into what you can do with newer camera phones! Would you buy a phone for the phone or for the camera?
The only problem now was trying to get my dog, Dexter to stop while I tried to take a photo… he was not impressed at all! All this stopping to take photos was ruining his walk and his sniffing routine… as you can see below, he wouldn’t even look at me! It doesn’t help that he hates his photo being taken!!!
