I use a new site called http://inmyphotofolder.com - Their custom App(PhotoSync) for Windows and Mac takes care of uploading pictures and folders that you want to publish. Its the only way for managing a large online photo collection. Site keeps originals. Unlimited number of photos and folders.

@Corey - most photo sharing sites now have privacy settings so you can choose exactly who can see your photos or albums - Photobucket for example.

@Steve - Thanks for adding this one it looks interesting, sounds like Gallery could easily be integrated into a blog?

@photofreak - the better digital photography gets the more photo sharing sites are going to pop up, and they're only going to get better - it's keeping up with them that could be the hard part?

I am a big fan of http://www.zenfolio.com/ and http://www.bluemelon.com/ - both are technologically newer, and on the cheaper side

if you want to try something different from the services mentioned on this article, have a look at http://pixi.me/whyus.php – we use Gallery, the open source web based photo album organizer. Have a secondary backup location for all your photos or just have more control/privacy with them using the Gallery. If you have web hosting somewhere, take a peek at your control panel – you’ll mostly likely see a 1-click installer for it.

If you have time, please consider adding another photo sharing site. http://www.photodekho.com, I find photodekho.com to be the best – by far! It’s free. Just try it once

Wedding photography is my forte and I'm looking for somewhere where I can create individual galleries for each wedding. Where I can upload the images for the couple to peruse at their discretion and maybe even forward to family & friends. The galleries must be private, i.e. visible only to the couple that I send the link to. Unable to be seen by casual browsers.
Free is ideal but I don't mind paying for what I want.
Any suggestions?

I just signed up with www.mejuba.com. Unlimited storage for both videos and pictures and it's completly free. No monthly limits or qoutas.
Photos and videos are stored in their original formats and sizes and are kept unmodified for backup.
I also like that you can geo-tag your stuff so it shows up on a map. And you can search for stuff on the map - that's cool!.
As the only site i know of it uses a Windows Explorer like navigation with folders - super eacy to use - even has drag and drop!.
I can highly recommend it.

This is a fantastic post. I've just learned about Smugmug and have been debating if I want to move my site from Shutterfly. This has given me a lot to consider.
