Hi Jill,

It depends on what the default settings on your camera are, and how you can adjust them?

But I try to shoot in a well lit room, keep away from direct sunlight and shoot straight on to the piece. Oh and no flash!

Glad you liked the post...

Hello!
I have been photographing paintings for a while, sometimes to go on a website and sometimes to copy to email etc. It is actually ( as I have found out) quite tricky, and I can see that in your photo you have been able to capture the colours correctly - you don't know how many times I have photographed an artwork with reflections of lights and sunshine bouncing off, and with variences of colour, which is not best when you are trying to show to a gallery. The painting that turns up needs to be the same as the one in the picture. Anyway, as I say, sometimes the colours in my photographs, when compared, don't match up with the real thing. Is that something to do with my lighting, or setting on the camera - or something else? (Jill - was a nice surprise to see one of my paintings when I opened up your page!)
